Christmas lights (2)

We danced in Market Harborough for Late Night Shopping. Before we lent the light sabre to the tiger (or Tiger), we danced the Upton Stick Dance and Skirmish with them, but unfortunately the photographer wanted to dance, so there are no pictures!

Christmas lights (1)

We danced in Desborough on November 25, for their Gala night.

Practice nights start earlier

At our AGM last night we agreed to start practice nights at 745, not 8 pm. If you are interested in coming along to see what we do, or in joining us, you would be very welcome. We meet (except for the second Monday of each month) at Braybrooke Village Hall. (On those second Mondays we meet adjacent to Market Harborough Leisure Centre. Contact us for more precise directions!).

A rest

Congratulations, Lindsay and Howard!

Dancing at their wedding in Northampton. Congratulations, and thank you for the invitation!

Happy birthday, Bakanalia!

We had a lovely day recently on the Great Central Railway, in honour of Bakanalia's 20th birthday. Bare Bones Border Morris and Anstey Royal Chalfont were there too, as well as (obviously!) Bakanalia themselves. Some photos are currently marooned in my camera, but here are some that have escaped. The first one is the massed Bob Ridley dance that ended the day. Thank you to Bakanalia for a lovely day out, and happy birthday!

Morris dancing lessons?

If you have always wanted to have a go, then come along on Monday September 12th to the Swan at Braybrooke, for our open evening. 8 o'clock. Hankies and sticks provided, and no need to dress up!

The Royal Oak, Naseby

First time in Naseby, as far as we can remember, and hopefully not the last. The fields between Market Harborough and the village are the site of the pivotal battle in the English Civil War, an event of great importance on our doorstep.

Changes of plans

As there is a pool tournament in Cold Ashby on Monday 18th July, we will not be dancing there, but instead will be at the Bull's Head, Arthingworth. On Monday 1st August we will be at the Tollemache Arms in Harrington, to accompany their beer festival. We were due to be there the week before, so instead, on Monday 25th July, we will be at the Stag in Maidwell.
The diary on this site (to the right of this post) is up to date.

Yelvertoft Church Fete

Two gigs in one day - a very pleasant afternoon in Yelvertoft. Thanks to Andy for playing for us. It was also very good to see youngsters from the village school dancing "Bean Setting", under Andy's expert tuition. Rather younger, but Isaac (bottom picture) was very keen to have my hat and a real stick.

The Square, Market Harborough

Very pleased to support Macmillan collectors on Saturday morning in Harborough, and very pleased to be joined by Bakanalia Border Morris. Thanks to them.

Queen's Head, Billesdon

Dancing at Billesdon with other sides on midsummer Wednesday is surely a tradition by now. We were trying to decide how many years we had been doing it, with various answers between 6 and 9. Here we are as usual with Bakanalia Border Morris and New St George Morris. Leicester Morris Men were also dancing at the Queen's Head on the same evening, so at the end of the evening there were four sides, all different, a true morris spectacle. (I don't appear to have taken many good pictures of Bakanalia and my Leicester Morris Men photos are all rather dark - apologies to all!)

The White Horse, Stoke Albany

We spent a rather overcast evening last Monday, 20th June, at Stoke Albany. Two photos of our two person jig "Smash the Windows", and one of Jenny Lind.

The Hare, Loddington

The Hare's opening night, last night. Rather rainy, but rather fun. Thanks to the landlord for inviting us, and thanks to the kind gentleman who took the group photo.

More photos from the Wharf, Welford

Thanks to David West for these photos of our trip to Welford last Monday, the 7th.

The Fox, Wilbarston

Thank you to the organisers of the beer festival at the Fox yesterday for inviting us. We enjoyed dancing, and some of us also enjoyed the buses running to other pubs taking part in the festival!

The Wharf, Welford

We missed seeing the Norton owners' club this year - hope they are ok! Our visit to the Wharf usually coincides with a run that they make to the same place. But we did still have a generous audience.
Here we are dancing Lollipop Man. We did other dances too but my camera battery was flat by then.

The Star, Geddington

A good evening in Geddington last night, by the Star (next to the Eleanor Cross). We are the ones in white, and the side in red is Hips N Haws. We have danced together on several occasions now, always a pleasure.

The George, Ashley

A lovely evening tonight in Ashley - we have never, apparently, danced at a pub here before, although we did dance at a fete 18 years ago! Thank you to the George for the sandwiches and encouraging people to come and watch, and to everyone who came to see us.
