A dry and not too cold night - we spent most of the time at the top end of the High Street, between the reindeer and the steam roller.

Christmas People
Dressed as Christmas people, we danced at Desborough Gala Night. We danced in Station Rd., quite sheltered, away from any loud music. Thank you if you stopped to watch, or joined in.

Macmillan Collection Day, Market Harborough
Some photos from the recent Macmillan Collection day in Market Harborough town centre, where we danced with Bakanalia Border Morris and with Hips 'n' Haws. We enjoyed the day and the weather (and the nearby stalls to mark Harborough's Transition Town status), and donations were generous. Thank you if you came to watch.

Annual General Meeting
Another year has passed, and we met last Monday, the 8th, for our AGM.
All the office bearers were re-elected and the accounts approved.
Here are two things we decided:
We would not meet for our customary Plough Monday Feast in January, but instead would have a Mayday Feast on May 1st. At which we could dance out.
And we would not meet for our customary early morning Mayday dance out. We have done this in the town centre at Market Harborough for some years, but this has (perhaps not surprisingly) drawn a large audience. Also, this year (which ended up being rained off, as it turns out), many of us were unable to be there due to work or family commitments.

Taster Evening - come and try Morris!
Have you seen us and wanted to have a go? Have you always wanted to try Morris dancing?
Come along on Monday 15th October 2012 to Braybrooke Village Hall at 7.45 and have a try, in a non threatening (and non dressed up!) environment. No need to dress in Morris costume - just come along.

Nevill Arms, Medbourne
No photos of the last few weeks, for one reason or another. But here are some of a lovely summer evening at Medbourne.

Queen's Head, Billesdon
It has become a tradition by now, I think, that we spend the Wednesday nearest Midsummer at the Queen's Head. We were joined, as ever, by Bakanalia Border Morris and New St George Morris, and also by one member of Rutland Morris. There were some people watching, but this is really a selfish evening for ourselves - it is always very good to watch other sides. You may see dances that you yourselves do, as well as seeing the unfamiliar.

The Star, Geddington
David West, one of our members, sadly passed away last week
after an illness borne with great optimism.
We have missed his presence for some time, and will continue to do so,
and will miss being able to share in his great knowledge of all sorts of
things.
It was David, who I already knew, who told me I would enjoy Morris
if I came along and took me along with him. And he was right.
We felt tonight that there were two dances that we
particularly associated with David. So
we began our evening at Geddington with one, Vandals of Hammerwich, and ended
with the other, Skirmish, just in time for it to rain.
The photos show us dancing Skirmish. It also seems appropriate to note that the street across the road from the Eleanor Cross is called West St.

Irchester
Danced at Irchester's Jubilee celebrations, as guests of St Katharine's Morris. A gorgeous sunny day, lots of stalls to look at, food in the nearby Parsons Hall, and some dancing to watch and do. What more could we want? Thanks to St Katharine's Morris for inviting us. Here is one picture of each of us.

Chandler's Arms, Shearsby
Shearsby is somewhere where we can always expect an audience and it did not disappoint tonight. Thank you if you watched us get some dances right first time, and others right after a practice (not that we have not been practising, of course!)

Dog and Gun, Walton
First night out of the season, at the Dog and Gun. An audience, who watched through the bar windows and did come out to join us for "Shepherds Hey". And a visit from a 1923 Standard car (pictured) and from the police (not pictured!), who stopped to watch for a bit.

Change of plan
For various reasons we will not now be dancing on 1st May at 6.30 to welcome May. We are not meeting next Monday, the 7th, and so will be dancing next on Monday 14th May. Details of our programme are on the right of this site.

2012 programme
Thanks to the hard work of our secretary, Pauline Dawes, our programme for 2012 is here! Details are to the right of this post, all being well.
One change from last year is that we will dance through August, ending the week before the Bank Holiday. We will then have a break and start to practice from 17th September.
There is a "taster evening" on 15th October at the Village Hall, Braybrooke. This replaces our "open evening" in September, and if you have always wanted to have a go at Morris, this is for you!
